Tyre Safety Check

The tyres on your car are arguably its most important safety feature. They are the sole point of contact between your car and the road, and should be checked regularly.

How likely is it that my tyres need checking?

A study by Continental Tyres revealed that up to 3.5 million motorists are driving on illegal tyres* . The legal minimum tread depth is 1.6mm, but at this point your tyres are putting you and other road users at greater risk. It is recommended you change your tyres when the tread depth reaches 3mm – following research** that highlighted an 8 metre difference in stopping distance when travelling at 50 mph in the wet compared to tyres at the 1.6mm legal limit.
